"We found that other rain gear was too hot, too heavy, too expensive, leaked, or worse. We designed the Century Jacket for the person who wants to cycle 100 miles in a day - a century. The result is our most popular jacket - copied but never equaled." - Dave Morrow, Showers Pass founder.
The Double Century Jacket is the successor to our Century jacket. We believe its the best all-round light weight jacket you can buy today. We make this claim because the jacket uses technical fabric, has seven ventilation points, is fully seam-sealed, and has been tested on rainy rides all over the Pacific Northwest (we call these test rides 'work'!). It functions great as both a wind and rain jacket and you can regulate your temperature with the ventilation system to avoid over-heating.
DESIGN
We started making these jackets because cyclists and Nordic skiers need a light, compact, multi-purpose jacket that won't break the wallet. We designed the Double Century Jacket for the person who wants to cycle long miles with minimal gear. For heavy-duty touring or commuting check out our Touring Jacket.
FABRIC
Waterproof: The industry standard for waterproof testing is the water column test. A column of water of water above a piece of the fabric tests waterproofness over a 24-hour period. The measurement is the millimeters of water that can be held by the fabric without leaking. The fabric must meet a minimum requirement of 1000mm to be considered waterproof.
Breathable: MVTR (Moisture Vapor Transfer Rate) is measured in a chamber divided vertically by the fabric being tested. A dry atmosphere is in one chamber and a moist atmosphere is in the other. A 24-hour test is run to see how much moisture passes through the fabric from the “wet” chamber to the “dry” chamber. This test results are expressed in grams of water transpired across the membrane over 24 hours.
The fabric used in the Double Century Jacket has a waterproof level of 20,000 mm and an MVTR of 8,000 g/24-hr.
