"Compression garments—which are designed to increase blood flow and speed postride recovery—are hot items right now, and lately it seems like the trend toward tight garments has spread to on-bike apparel as well. But for those of us who prefer to “recover” from a big ride with a trashy magazine and a latte, it’s a joy to find a pair of shorts that hugs, instead of squeezes.
The InRCool short is made from Pearl’s barely-there Elite Transfer fabric, which wicks well even on humid days and has a UPF rating of 50, thanks in part to a UV-reflecting coldblack finish. The waistband has elastic in the back to keep it in place — a nice nod to modesty, as these shorts aren’t cut high in the rear. A mesh panel in the front gives a little more cool comfort in tyhis area. The Women's 3D Elite chamois provides a moderate amount of padding. The leg openings feature a dainty, scalloped silicone pattern that’s grippy enough to prevent the shorts from riding up.—Emily Furia
This new version of the Women's Elite short has been given the P.R.O. Series treatment in that it now comes with the In-R-Cool technolgy found in their top of the line range. You can still count on the comfort of the Elite, with it's anatomic multi-panel construction and the women's specific Elite 3D chamois, but the addition of the In-R-Cool fabric brings even more comfort by way of supreme moisture-wicking and body temperature regulation. The In-R-Cool fabric reflects UV light and provides UPF 50+ sun protection. It is able to reflect UV light as effectively as any white fabric would, and has been appropriately named 'coldblack'. Another property of this material is that it dries superfast, to keep you cool and comfortable as those Summer temperatures soar !
The Women's Elite 3D seatpad is anatomically pre-shaped with 13mm of triple-layer variable density foam to give you optimum cushioning without any unwanted extra bulk. The fabric covering the pad offers 4-way stretch so that it will move with you as you pedal. The fabric is breathable, highly moisture-wicking and includes carbon yarns to help offer the best thermoregulation.
Welded construction silicone grippers will hold the leg of the short in place and an attractive design incorporated into the gripper adds a nice feminine touch.
Reflective decals bring added low-light visibilty.
