Nanoflex Water Resistant Material with Normal Stitching
Newly introduced NanoFlex fabric, exclusively engineered by Castelli, is taking the cycling world by storm. Extensively tested by professional bike racers, including members of the Cervelo Test Team, these cycling bib tights have proven to be worth their weight in carbon for their ability to repel water and block out the cold.
Roger Hammond and Carlos Sastre both testify: "This new water-repellent fabric not only bounce off the water drops, it insulates and wicks the moisture away quickly so I don’t get that cold, clammy feeling any longer.”
The trick? Coat NanoFlex stretch with millions of tiny silicone nano-filaments to create the most water-repellent fabric known to man (or woman); add an insulating layer of warm air trapped between the skin and fleecy interior to keep the cyclist warm, without excess bulk; then stir vigorously, watching in disbelief as droplets of water bead and roll off the surface, rather than permeating the outer membrane and soaking through.
While not 100% waterproof, it's an amazingly water-repellent fabric and well worth the investment in your comfort, performance, and long-range training goals.
Key features include:
NanoFlex fabric keeps you dry
Minimum seams for maximum water resistance
KISS3 Chamois Pad for all-day comfort in the saddle
Giro++ bib straps
Reflective ankle zippers for increased visibility and safety.
Weight: 298g (size Large)
Temperature range: 50 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit

The Pave Bib Tights are a great all-around Winter bib tight made with Castelli's Revolutionary NanoFlex fabric. Through the presence of tiny invisible hairs on the fabric, (like the fuzz on a peach) these bib tights actually allow water to roll right off you! Perfect for keeping you drier in inclement Spring and Fall weather when there's a chance for rain, but it's too warm to wear rain pants. The bib straps on these tights are incredibly comfortable. They also have a very subtle, (but very stylish) Scorpion logo on one hip that I've fallen in love with. Also, these Pave Bib Tights feature Castelli’s popular (and comfortable!) Kiss3 chamois and reflective ankle zippers to boot!

NOTE: You will see BicyclingHub.com's sizing chart for bib shorts give height as the measure of reference, which we find to a more accurate gauge than Castelli's general sizing charts (also provided for your reference). Of course, some people will have a shorter torso and some longer, but we still find height to be the best measure - it is paramount to get the bib strap length right in order to get the optimum fit.

If you're already a convert then you'll probably know exactly what we're talking about! Many who start using bibs say that they will never look back - sounds like what we all used to say about pedals when clipless were first introduced. Bib shorts are found by most, if not all, to be the most comfortable option for a riding short - but of course this relies heavily on getting the fit right. Lack of a waistband and the fact that the bib straps serve to hold the shorts up and in proper position contribute to the comfort factor. You will notice that our sizing charts for bib shorts give height as the measure that you should use. Of course, some people will have a shorter torso and some longer, but we still find height to be the best measure - it is paramount to get the bib strap length right in order to get the optimum fit. Too long and the strap will be loose and not hold the shorts up and in position effectively. Too short and this could prove uncomfortable, pulling the short up too tightly and the straps potentially cutting in on the shoulders.
Something also to consider is that it is okay for the bib straps to feel just a little tight in the standing position, and in actual fact this is probably best, as when you are in true riding position this should slacken a little. You may find that after a few uses, the shorts will loosen up a bit as well. We suggest when you first try on the bib shorts, you try and re-create this riding position if you can - perhaps pretend you are on the bike and adopt the crouch position - or get on the bike on the indoor trainer or just pop down the driveway on your bike. (Don't be tempted to keep going though unless you are sure of the fit, as we cannot accept exchanges that have been ridden in!)
As with most clothing items, there can be a considerable variance in the sizing across different brands and this is apparent in cycling apparel as well. The most common variance is that between continental European sizing and true to American sized product - for example a pair of large Pearl Izumi shorts will come up a whole size bigger than a pair of Castelli's in large. We have a wide knowledge, and experience, of how different brands fit and can advise on these variances. Of course if you have any questions regarding sizing, we here at BicyclingHub.com will be more than happy to help you find what will work best for you.
