I wonder if the first person who thought of cutting a hole in an old pair of socks to wear over his cycling shoes, knew the idea would catch on. It makes perfect sense though - a nice aero way of protecting your shoes and feet from rain splash and mud, with just a little added warmth. Perfect for those Fall/Winter rides where it is not so cold that you need a full-on bootie and you want to keep your shoes and socks clean. Also good for cyclo-cross, and this may well have been the necessity that bore such an invention ? This newest version of castelli's own Belgian Bootie - the Mk3 - has a cool new look for 2011/2012 and added visibility with reflective threaded bands at the ankle and at the cuff. Imitate your heroes floating across the damp cobbles in style sporting a pair of these.

Belgian Bootie III features:

New double layer knit on the foot to offer greater protection.

Constructed in 100% polypropylene for increased durability and easy cleaning.

Silver bands around ankle and cuff use reflective threads for added visibility and safety.

Neatly finished cleat cut-out.

Cut high enough to cover a 9cm sock.
